Day 1

Transfer Prague - Cottage Jamna   190 km / 114 miles / 2H 20 minutes

Day 2

Cottage Jamna - NP Novohradske mountains - Cottage Jamna    

63 km / 38 miles

On the first day of your BT make sure to visit the National Park Novohradské mountains. The uniqueness of these mountains lies mainly in the rarely preserved nature . In the Czech Republic it occupies territory of 162 km2 and stretches  to the Austrian border . Kamenec ist the highest mountain- 1072 mn m . The best way to get to know these mountains is without any doubt the cycling . The path leads along the paved ,unfrequented roads.. It is manageable for every biker. This stage is the longest of all . After riding about 55 kilometers you will get back to the cottage Jamna.

Day 3

Cottage Jamna - Lipno lake - Lipno nad Vltavou (train station) - Cottage Jamna

47 km / 28 miles

Alongside the CT 12 and 1188 you will get to the castle Rosenberg. There is not many castles that can compare with Rosenberg. Mainly for its beautiful location and ancient character. There is a beautiful view from above on Vltava River and the entire community. Here you can go through two tour routes, English Tower and Katovna. Furthermore, after about 7 km of riding you will get to the town Vyssi Brod. The local Cistercian monastery is one of the most beautiful and best preserved castle in the country. At the monastery you will also find the postal museum. At the area of 2000 qm you will see many exhibits from the history of the Czech postal service. After about 17 km you will reach the largest lake in the Czech Republic "Lipno", which is already in the National Park Šumava. If the weather is good, you can swim. If you continue riding along the watter surface you will reached the station "Lipno nad Vltavou." The train departs at …o’clock.. After about 40 minutes on the train, you will get off in the village Rybnik, where the train terminates. The cottage Jamna is not far away from here.

Day 4

Cottage Jamna - Cesky Krumlov - Cottage Jamna

39 km / 23 miles

We recommend you to set out early so you  have as enough time to visit Cesky Krumlov. From Rožmitál in Sumava it is almost always uphill to the crossroad Zahradka ( about 6 km) . But  after that to Cesky. Krumlov almost always down the hill through a forrest. So just a relaxation. You can leave your bicycles for a tiny fee in the house " Garden" ( the receptionists will take care of it ). And then you can collect experiences in this unique city. Wonderful square with adjacent narrow streets , castle with beautiful gardens - it is true pride of this medieval city. Various festivals take place here. So when you have a little luck and time, you could visit some of those festivals. You will certainly have time for a good lunch and you could taste a local beer- Eggenberg . You will get back alongside the CT12 , it is about 20 km to cottage Jamna.

 Day 5

Cottage Jamna - Velesin (trein station) - Cottage Jamna

62 km / 37 miles

After passing through several villages ( in Bujanov is a museum of the horse railway ) you will arrive in town Kaplice . It is a city which was founded in the Middle Ages. There is a large square with town hall and several historical buildings. If you follow our CT you will arrive to a small village Dvorec, where a beautiful ZOO is. There are lots of animals such as lions , tigers, bears etc. After you visit the ZOO you will continue to the town Velesin. You will cross the main road no. 3 leading to Austria , and after about 0.5 km you will be at the railway station. You will take the train to Bujanov. If the train does not stop in Bujanov, you will take off in Rybnik. From Bujanov it is 4 km to the cottage Jamna.

 Day 6

Cottage Jamna - Lipno nad Vltavou - Cottage Jamna

61 km / 37 miles

Last day on the bike you  start on CT12 and ride to the village Branna. From here you will ride to the train station Certova stena.. It is a National Nature Reserve. According to one legend the devil wanted to destroy the cloister, he wanted to make a dam and then flush the monastery. He did not make it in time, he only had one night so all  that he left is an unfinished work. On a hill above the Vltava river is this huge heap of large stones - "Devil's Wall". This reputation has inspired in 1882 Czech composer B. Smetana to the composition of the opera "The Devil's Wall".

 

Along the Vltava river and the railway line you will get to the Lipno dam . If  you wanted to experience a little adrenaline so be it. Right in the center of the village Lipno n . Vltavou ( the central park ) there is a terminal, which will take you to the top. Then  you can take a mile long descent on the new bobsleigh .With its parameters and the locations it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. During hot days you can swim in a recently constructed a pond with a sandy beach . Or you may prefer the Aqua Centre , which is located in the town Frymburk . Here you can get alongside CT 33 , which partly runs along the lake " Lipno " . If  you've got a taste for some fish specialties , make sure you  visit the local restaurant " Fishermen's Bastion " . After that you will get back to cottage Jamna if you follow the labels we make.
